Pythons

In May 2004, shortly after Nic moved out, I purchased a ball python from That Pet Place on Jordan Lane.

I named him Fuzzy.

He soon became accustomed to to his new home, so I got him a mate, who I named Wuzzy.

I liked to think that Fuzzy was a male and that Wuzzy was a female. However, the fact was I didn't really know at the time. I'm told that they don't even know--maybe even to this day. Since the snake's genitals are tucked safely inside its belly, neither they, nor the vet, nor I knew of its gender until they both came of age and I had them "probed". As it turns out, they were as I hoped. Fuzzy is a boy and Wuzzy is a girl.

Because I have them in the same cage, they may never mate. As they grow up together, they become accustomed to the scent of the other. As a result, once mature Fuzzy may never find the female to be "interesting" enough to actually got to all the effort to find out for himself that she is, in fact, female.
